Baby signing grew out of research conducted in the United States over the last 20 years. Researchers observed the overwhelming benefits of signing with hearing infants. In Australia, speech pathologists have also been incorporating signing into their practice for many years.
The Baby Sign Time Program introduces parents and carers to simple, relevant signs, based on Auslan (Australian Sign Language). Participants will learn signs that are used with speech, rhymes & songs that can be easily incorporated into a daily routine. Early Language strategies also help parents encourage their child's emerging language development.
The Baby Sign Time Program is facilitated by Terri Anderton. Terri is a Melbourne based Speech Pathologist with 8 years experience working with young children with speech and language difficulties. For many years Terri has facilitated courses for parents of children with language difficulties, including the Hanen 'It Takes Two To Talk' Program. She is the mother of Felix, a keen signer and now talker.
